Kusanohana
草の花
Perched on the 2th floor of an office building in Shiba, Minato Ward, Kusanohana offers siphon-brewed coffee, including its house blend and a deep roast iced coffee, for a relaxed afternoon pause.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked away on the 2th floor of a building in Minato Ward's Shiba district, just up a flight of stairs off the main avenue, Kusanohana offers a calm sanctuary removed from street-level traffic. Gentle music fills the interior, where a resident Chihuahua occasionally welcomes visitors, setting a quietly idiosyncratic mood.
The house specialty is coffee carefully extracted cup by cup using a siphon brewer. The Kusanohana Blend delivers a rich, substantial body paired with a clean finish and mellow mouthfeel. For warmer days or those craving a chilled drink, the deep-roasted iced coffee provides a crisp, refreshing alternative free of harsh astringency.
Seating includes counter stools, tables lined on one side with banquette sofas, and an outdoor terrace, offering views of paintings along the walls as you unwind. In the tradition of classic kissaten coffee shops, there are no printed menus on the tables; ordering is done through a casual chat with the proprietor, and smoking is permitted. Open on weekdays during a brief afternoon window from 12:00 to 17:00, it is an inviting stop for an unhurried break between appointments or during a neighborhood stroll.
